The 4 Pillars of Authenticity

For managers with decision power who want clarity and confidence in complex work without defaulting to micromanagement.

If you feel like you are supposed to have it all figured out, you are not alone.

In complex environments, managers are asked to provide certainty in situations that are not certain. And when priorities change weekly and decisions get stuck in approvals, leadership can start feeling like constant firefighting.

Most managers were never trained for this. They learned by copying what worked for their boss. That often means stepping in, controlling details, and being the final decision maker, not because it is effective, but because it feels safer in the moment. The result is predictable: meetings multiply, people wait, and the manager gets pulled into everything.

We help you break that pattern with a practical foundation for modern leadership: the 4 Pillars. Not as a theory, but as daily behaviors you can use to lead with confidence, build trust, and create visibility without micromanagement.

Because leadership is not about becoming the bottleneck with the best answers. It is about creating the conditions where good decisions happen without you in every room.

How do the 4 Pillars work?

1. The Foundation
When mentoring aspiring and newly appointed leaders, they often look for their managers or organizational structures to help them to solve their challenges or teach them to grow. 4 Pillars is built on the premise, that you forge your own luck. You are the navigator through your own journey, and you can influence your next steps yourself.

Therefore, before starting your journey to the 4 Pillars, we encourage embracing a growth mindset, and the will to improve yourself.
2. The Tools
The Definition of Awesome describes, where you want to go. It is the vision of your leadership journey. Or it might be the ideal solution to an existing challenge you would like to solve.
The Rhythm or Iteration is a timeboxed cycle event, in which you reflect and introspect on your journey and evaluate your progress.
With the two 4 Pillars Boards on your Assumptions/Challenges (Board #1) and your Activities (Board #2) you document your progress, and you visualize where you are. In your reflection session, this will give you a map on where you are and what you still need to solve.
The Question & Action framework is a comprehensive catalog to inspire you on what to do next on your journey.
3. The Building Process
Through the tools, you can decide on your own pace and nature of the journey. The journey is totally yours. The tools, we provide, are supposed to inspire you to think differently about the challenges and actions you are facing daily. Important is the discipline you decide for yourself.
4. The Epiphany
At some point, you will reach a solution or the status you were aiming for. The epiphany is when the Definition of Awesome becomes reality. The next step is to look for the new Definition of Awesome.

The 4 Pillars is an open-source leadership framework

Chris has used a number of different coaching techniques for over six months to help our team leads focus on value and agile ways of thinking and working. Each interaction is tailored to the group or individual he is working with and he takes into account their motivations and the culture of the organization. Over time their confidence has increased and our practices are more coherent and aligned. I addition we have found the Management 3.0 training to be of great value for team spirit and growing new leaders.
